Tom, the founder and owner of Matlock Consulting, dedicates himself to helping college students prepare for the job market and succeed in their careers. With a robust background in both corporate and higher education, Tom is uniquely qualified to guide students on launching their professional journeys.

Having led college recruiting programs at companies like Johnson & Johnson and L’Oréal, Tom has a deep understanding of what employers seek in candidates. After a successful corporate career, he made the transition to higher education, where he coaches students on effectively marketing their talents, skills, and experiences. Tom previously served as a career coach at Wake Forest School of Business and has taught a career readiness course at the Rutgers University School of Engineering for the past thirteen years.

A proud graduate of the University of Virginia, Tom’s own early recruiting experiences motivated him to establish Matlock Consulting. Tom empathizes with the challenges students face, having struggled with skills, knowledge, and confidence during his first job search.
